Some Kind of Wonderful

September 27, 2009

A couple of weeks ago was Non-Bio daughter’s Homecoming. She’s been dating, aka Facebooking, a guy from Vail for several months now and he very sweetly and with much fanfare (as is the high school requirement) asked her to be his date.

He sent her a t-shirt with a rainbow colored flourish of characteristics he adored about her written all over it, which I stupidly neglected to get a photo of. Brent and I pretended that we didn’t see the word “arousing” dead-center in the jumbled list — Ahh Denial.

Once the shirt was washed, most of the words disappeared leaving her a special message:

“Please will you go to Homecoming with me? :)”

And so it was a date.

That evening was the first time the poor kid was subjected to any and all of Kaleigh’s parental units and I have to give him props. He waited patiently in the living room with Brent while Raleigh and I helped Kaleigh primp in the bathroom.

Nothing makes you feel old and uncool like obnoxiously snapping pictures of your teenage daughter before she goes to the big dance BUT…

Afterward, Brent and I looked at each other and smiled, “Dude, she’s waaaay too hot for him.” (no offense Cody)

OMG that is so sweet. I wish the boys were that sweet when I was in high school.
