I’m at the point in this pregnancy where the belly has started to inhibit some daily activities. Shaving my legs, tying my shoes and climbing the stairs are now met with such exhaustion that they require a 20 minute recovery period.  By the end of the day, I’m totally wiped out and ready to crawl into bed.

But here’s the kicker— I can’t sleep!

It’s been at least a couple of weeks since I’ve gotten a decent night’s sleep.  Again, this is mainly due to the belly.  I can’t seem to get comfortable and changing position requires a three-point roll over—left side to back (rest), back to right side (adjust)—sometimes with a utilitarian push from Brent, who has been more than a trooper on this journey.

This morning after rolling my lumpy sleep-deprived self out of bed once again, Brent offered up his own theory as to why I’m having trouble sleeping:

“The baby’s in there swimming around, kicking and singing…loving life.  It’s the singing that’s keeping you awake at night.”

We think it sounds something like this:
